Separation precedes unity

Separation precedes unity By Ivan Ho   30 Jan 2017   God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it  was good. Genesis 1:17‭-‬18 NKJV The “all-loving, all-embracing, non-discriminating” ideologies of some pastors and leaders are totally without Biblical base and very damaging to the churches/ people groups who are under their leadership. Right from the beginning, God separated light from darkness. Then He separated the nation of Israel from its idol worshipping foreign nations. God commanded His people not to intermarry with foreign nations who don’t share their God given values. Jesus taught about separating wheat from the tares, separating the sheep from the goats. “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels...

God creates me

God creates me By Ivan Ho  22 Jan 2017 “God is still in the business of creating man” Dr Jonathan David That is the introduction to the message Dr Jonathan David gives to us today in Life Centre church in Sydney. We are reminded that God creates us for a higher purpose, not just to get blessed, get a job, get married, and then die. That is the pathway most people choose. God says: we are fearfully and wonderfully made! No one in their right mind would design and create something with all the ingredients and careful thoughts put into it for no reason! When a high speed train is designed and built, for example, there is a purpose for it. When a building is created and designed and built, it is custom made for the purpose it is designed for. Is it going to be a school, or is it going to be a church? The designer already know in advance its purpose before creation. How much...

Dream of man centred building

Dream of man centred building.    Date 13 Jan 2012 By Ivan Ho   An architectural professor was presenting to a group of students about a building he designed. He explained how different parts of the building functioned, to serve the various needs of man. After the presentation, I met up with another architectural student who said to me how he disagreed with the professor’s design philosophy. I said to him: “I felt the same. Everything he designed was based on psychology to serve the needs of man, to make him happy. His design looks good and is popular amongst man but there’s something missing. There are no higher principles that govern the building. At the least there should be some symbolism in the architecture to show what it stands for….”. The other student agreed and said: “The professor’s design principles is the predominant...

The J word

The J word By Ivan Ho   11 Jan 2017     I mentioned “God judges…” in a group discussion and I was immediately corrected by the group leader: “not judge…”.  I was wondering if I used the wrong word but I couldn’t find another better term for it. Just thinking about it, the words “judge, judgement, judgemental” seem to have been removed from the vocabulary by some Christians who either don’t like the word “judge” or don’t believe the fact that God judges anybody anymore, as if it is even wrong to mention the J word. The J word is neither evil nor wrong, only some Christians seem to think so, because of some weird ideology that they hold. All over the world the courtrooms make judgement everyday and we are fine with it but as soon as we make judgements, people say: “Don’t be judgemental!“. We make judgement...

The order and purpose of creation

The order and purpose of creation By Ivan Ho   3 Jan 2017   In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 God created the heavens, then He created the angels. God created the earth, then He created Adam and Eve. The order was the creation of a place of abode before God created living creatures, not the other way round. God knows exactly what He is doing and He always does things in order. Can you imagine God created mankind first but they had no place where they could call home, and no fruits nor vegetables for food, nor natural lights to bring light to darkness? Just visualise ourselves being homeless and without all the basic necessities of life if God did not do things in order. God has prepared the heavens and the earth first before He created Adam, then Eve was created as his companion and helper. Everything was perfect and in order because God is a God...
