God is not a fortune teller

God is not a fortune teller by Ivan Ho 12 July 2020   God already knew Liverpool would win the title this season before a ball was kicked. But if He revealed it to us in the beginning all the fun and competition would have been gone. God isn’t into match fixing either so every team, every player would try their best to win every match. If you are not a football fan, think about watching a movie. If someone told you the ending of the story right from the beginning, would you enjoy watching it as much?In the same way, there are some things God knows must happen which He won’t reveal to us so that our faith in Him would not be undermined. Did Abraham know God would intervene before he sacrificed his own son Issac? Abraham didn’t know nor did Issac so that both their faith were tested. Abraham had faith in God that even if he killed his son that God would raise him...

God responds to your faith

God responds to your explicit faith by Ivan Ho    1 June 2020   Faith is visible The woman with the issue of blood had to press through the crowd and overcome fear of embarrassment to get her miraculous breakthrough. Jesus asked: “Who touched my garment?” indicating that he wasn’t aware that the woman was around. Jesus didn’t even notice the woman in the beginning but it didn’t stop her from making her presence felt. That’s why Jesus said to her: “YOUR faith has made you whole!“.   Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and...

Grace to build

Grace to build by Ivan Ho 27 May 2020   Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God, that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God. For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient— in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation, but as it is written:...

Know who is speaking to you

Know who is speaking to you by Ivan Ho 17 May 2020 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I...

Submit to the higher powers

Submit to the higher powers   by Ivan Ho  14 May 2020 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.  Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.Romans 13:1‭-‬2 God says we are to submit to the higher powers. The powers that be are ordained of God. 1. The higher powers must submit themselves to the highest power. There is no higher power than Jesus Christ the King of kings and Lord of lords. Every man and woman must willingly submit to our Lord Jesus Christ. 2. We are commanded to submit to the higher powers that are “ordained of God”. If someone assumes position of power that is not ordained of God, he or she doesn’t have power that is delegated by God. God does not tell us to submit to positions...

The weaker vessel

The weaker vessel by Ivan Ho   11 May 2020   Mother’s day should be celebrated together with Father’s day but that’s the world. Some people who grow up in single parenthood unfortunately usually can only feel the love and care of their moms but lack the guidance and discipline of their fathers . In I Timothy 2:11-14, 2 Timothy 3:6, I Peter 3:7, women are said to be weak and people think it is discrimination against women, but we must rightly divide the word. In my observation, many women are weak because of one thing: they lack bonding with their fathers either because their fathers being too busy with work or due to separation of their parents. God never intends to create woman to be strong on her own. Unfortunately due to the predominant spirit in our society, many women try to fight for equality and want to be strong on their own. They don’t understand...
