Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n Hebrews 11:1<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n 1.<\/strong> Faith is not self confidence<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n When we talk about the God kind of faith, we are not talking about having self confidence. Unfortunately, people who are full of self confidence don’t usually have the kind of faith spoken of in the Bible. People who are full of self confidence are usually reliant on their own capabilities and powers. They put their confidence on circumstances they can see, things they can touch in the here and now, things that are within their control. Lot of people with self confidence on the outside are actually lacking in faith on the inside. Their confidence comes from external things such as their financial powers, human connections, positions they hold rather than on God.<\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 2. Faith is not religious beliefs<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n When we are talking about having the God kind of faith, we are not talking about having religious beliefs either. Many people who have religious beliefs, including Christian belief or “Christan faith”, may not actually live in faith. They may be living in hope, but they are not living in faith as God intends. Having hope is far better than having no hope at all, but hope alone would not take us to our destiny. Only having the God kind of faith will lead us to our God given destiny.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 3. Faith is not fate<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n Such is the difference between people who live in “fate” and those who live in “faith”.<\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n Those who believe in fate believe in fatalistic encounters and happenings that are predetermined by heaven above. They would passively accept “whatever will be will be”. They don’t really have faith as they believe that whatever happens to them are all set up from above of which they have little control. If things happen, it’s God’s will. If not, they will accept it as God’s will also. They just accept everything as their fate.<\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n As I have mentioned before, not everyone we meet, not everything that happen around us, are necessarily God sent or arranged by God. More often than not, some people are sent by satan, some circumstances are set up by the devil with the intention to lead you away from God and His plans and purposes for your life. Sadly, there are people who have been entrapped by the devil, thinking it was God. In reality, they have lost faith in God and in the original words that God said to them. When circumstances seem to contradict the promises God speaks to us , our faith will be tested.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 4. Faith is not experience<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n A person’s confidence often comes from his experiences. When he has never been to certain places, never has the experience of doing certain things, to him there are many unknown factors. But when we continually go to the same place, or continuously do the same things on a regular basis, our confidence in these matters will increase. To certain extent, life experiences will help us build our trust and confidence.\u00a0 We do need experiences to help increase our confidence, but moreso we need faith to carry us through circumstances we have never experienced before.<\/p>\r\n When we talk about biblical faith, ie the God kind of faith that we are discussing here, we are not talking about faith that comes from our experiences. We do not need faith to believe that the sun will rise tomorrow for we see the sun rise from the east everyday.\u00a0 In the same way, when someone drives on the same route everyday, he would rely on his experiences rather than faith to take him to his destination. However, when God tells me to go somewhere I have never been before, I need faith in His words to move towards God’s destiny.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n Some experiences in life come from God which would help us build our faith in Him.\u00a0 Having said that, one must not put his faith in experiences instead of faith in God. There is no need for us to continually pursue new experiences. All we need is to pursue Christ.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 5. Faith is not superstition<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n It beggars belief that so many people, including some Christians, would engage themselves in superstitions.\u00a0 For example, some would put up crucifix everywhere to ward off evil spirits. Others would “apply the blood” over their cars to protect them from accidents. Still others would lie on the graves of past famous Christian leaders in order to obtain their anointings, a practice they call “grave sucking”, and the list of such unbiblical practices goes on.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n For people who have no faith in Christ, they often put their faith in superstitious practices which they hope would supernaturally lead them to a better future, even though these practices are forbidden by God. For example, those who belief in fate would consult mediums and gurus to try to alter their bad fate. If they believe their fate are written in their names, for example, they would change their names to try to change their fate. But if they believe their fate is written in their facial appearances, their fate is seemingly sealed. Others would believe that their fate is written in the stars so they would consult things like horoscopes to try to find out about their futures.<\/p>\r\n We need to be careful that our faith is in Christ alone instead of in superstitious practices passed down by our parents or religious traditions.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 6. Faith is not assumption<\/strong><\/p>\r\n More often than not, people walk in assumptions rather than walk in faith. They assume that, because of circumstancial happenings around them, that God is leading them to do certain things when God was never involved.\u00a0 To put simply, if God never spoke to you about certain things or going anywhere and you move ahead “by faith”, you are walking in assumption.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n Assumptions are very dangerous because people actually believe God is leading them towards certain direction which God has never purposed for them. There were people who sold everything to move somewhere only to find out years later that they were walking by assumptions. As Christians, we need to make sure that we walk by faith and not by our own assumptions which I’m sure everyone, myself included, has unfortunately done before.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 7.\u00a0 Definition of faith<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n The God kind of faith is defined in the book of Hebrews as follows:<\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n Hebrews 11:1<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n Faith is not just about having hope but rather having hope that has”substance”, not just about having hope for things in the unforeseeable future, but faith based on internal “evidence” of things not seen with the physical eyes. The reason is simply this: you can befriend people who may be religious but unless they have faith in you, they will not walk with you. Without faith it is impossible to please God.<\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n But without faith it\u00a0 is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a \u6216\u8a31\u96e3\u4ee5\u7f6e\u4fe1\uff0c\u5f88\u591a\u4eba\u5305\u62ec\u3127\u4e9b\u57fa\u7763\u5f92\uff0c\u90fd\u6709\u67d0\u65b9\u9762\u7684\u8ff7\u4fe1\u3002\u4f8b\u5982\uff0c\u6709\u4e9b\u76f8\u4fe1\u628a\u4e0a\u5b57\u67b6\u653e\u5728\u67d0\u4e9b\u5730\u65b9\uff0c\u90aa\u9748\u4fbf\u6703\u88ab\u5e79\u8d70\u3002\u4e5f\u6709\u4e9b\u4eba\u76f8\u4fe1\u51fa\u5916\u524d\u7948\u79b1\u7528\u8036\u7a4c\u5bf3\u8840\u4f86\u78ba\u4fdd\u7950\u8def\u4e0a\u5e73\u5b89\u3002\u66f4\u5947\u602a\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u6709\u4e9b\u4fe1\u795e\u7684\u4eba\u6703\u53bb\u67d0\u4e9b\u5df2\u6b78\u5929\u570b\u7684\u51fa\u540d\u57fa\u7763\u5f92\u7684\u58b3\u5893\u53bb\u5438\u53d6\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u6069\u818f\u3002\u9019\u4e9b\u8ff7\u4fe1\u7684\u884c\u70ba\u591a\u7684\u662f\u3002<\/p>\r\n \u81f4\u65bc\u3127\u4e9b\u672a\u4fe1\u4e3b\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u4fe1\u5fc3\u6703\u653e\u5728\u3127\u4e9b\u795e\u7981\u6b62\u7684\u8ff7\u4fe1\u884c\u70ba\u4e0a\uff0c\u5e0c\u671b\u795e\u9748\u4fdd\u7950\u4ed6\u5011\u6709\u7f8e\u597d\u7684\u5c07\u4f86\uff0c\u751a\u81f4\u7528\u9748\u8b00\u6216\u5e2b\u4f15\u6307\u9ede\u8ff7\u6d25\u6216\u6536\u8b8a\u547d\u904b\u3002\u82e5\u4ed6\u5011\u76f8\u4fe1\u547d\u904b\u662f\u5beb\u5728\u540d\u5b57\u4e0a\uff0c\u4fbf\u6703\u6539\u547d\u53bb\u8f49\u904b\u3002\u82e5\u4ed6\u5011\u76f8\u4fe1\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u547d\u904b\u662f\u5b9a\u65bc\u661f\u969b\u5929\u8c61\uff0c\u4fbf\u6703\u7747\u661f\u5ea7\u554f\u524d\u7a0b\u3002\u82e5\u4ed6\u5011\u76f8\u4fe1\u547d\u904b\u662f\u5beb\u5728\u81ea\u5df1\u9762\u76f8\u7684\u8a71\uff0c\u600e\u69d8\u53bb\u6539\u8b8a\u547d\u904b? \u53ea\u597d\u8a8d\u547d\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\r\n \u4f5c\u70ba\u57fa\u7763\u5f92\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u5fc5\u9808\u628a\u4fe1\u5fc3\u55ae\u9760\u4e3b\u8036\u7a4c\u57fa\u7763\uff0c\u800c\u4e0d\u662f\u76f2\u76ee\u8ddf\u96a8\u7236\u6bcd\u6216\u5b97\u6559\u50b3\u7d71\u6d41\u4e0b\u4f86\u7684\u8ff7\u4fe1\u884c\u70ba\u3002<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n 6. \u4fe1\u5fc3\u4e0d\u662f\u5047\u8a2d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n
