Dream of police in shopping mall
This is the dream I have on the early morning of 20 Oct 2019 in Hong Kong.
I was in the lower level of a big shopping mall where I waived goodbye to a few people after dinner.
Then I took an escalator upstairs to the street level, wanting to watch a movie. Arriving at the next level, however, I could see riot police wearing helmets everywhere inside the shopping mall and could hardly see any normal shoppers at all. All the lights inside were dim and the only light was coming from the street outside. Then I realised that I haven’t got a movie ticket and thought that only those with tickets were allowed to stay inside. Instead of going to the box office to buy a ticket and risking being arrested, I decided to leave the shopping mall immediately, seeing riot police patrolling around the arcade on the way out to the street.
My thoughts:
I have this dream when Hong Kong has been experiencing one of the worst unrests in our history. Riot police have been engaged by the authorities to try to shut down the many ongoing protests which broke out since June in objection to the extradition bill being put forward by the government of Hong Kong. Although the bill was subsequently withdrawn, the timing was few months too late when the confrontation between the protesters and police and other groups have been escalating.
Back in July, God has already given me another dream where I saw the unfortunate experiences of a young man and a young girl protester.
When I have the dream this morning, the involvements of riot police, especially during protests, are already taking place across the city. What I saw in the dream is authoritarian measures taken to another level whereby the riot police are further strengthening their control of the city. They are literally deployed to patrol the city and control the daily lives of people. I do not know if things will escalate to that extent but this is what I saw in the dream.
I believe the strong man in the city intends to suck the life out of the people who just want to carry on with our normal daily living without interference .
The demonic spirit of control and intimidation must be bound in the name of Jesus! This is my first thought.
The second thought I have is that, despite all the turmoils, God is still in complete control, so fear not! I later wrote down this thought as follows:
God in total control
The bible is not a book of fairytales or Disney stories. In the bible, not everything recorded are rosy and “pretty”. There are many ugly scenes being written down to tell us exactly how things happened in the world involving sinful men, and how, despite all that mess, God is in total control, and that His love and grace always prevail in the end.
The darkest day in history was when Jesus the Son of God was put to death on the cross. But the resurrection of our Lord that follows 3 days after is the ultimate triumph over sin and death, and the total defeat of our enemy satan.
Without resurrection, what we believe in is just another religion that cannot save anyone. The cross we preach today is empty, for Jesus is no longer there but seated in the highest place above all powers and authorities. The bible tells us that we who are in Christ are seated with Him in the heavenlies. It is from there we rule and govern together with Christ the things on earth.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
