Familiar spirits

Now Samuel had died, and all Israel had lamented for him and buried him in Ramah, in his own city. And Saul had put the mediums and the spiritists out of the land. Then the Philistines gathered together, and came and encamped at Shunem. So Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped at Gilboa. When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. And when Saul inquired of the Lord , the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets. Then Saul said to his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “In fact, there is a woman who is a medium at En Dor.” So Saul disguised himself and put on other clothes, and he went, and two men with him; and they came to the woman by night. And he said, “Please conduct a séance for me, and bring up for me the one I shall name to you.”

I remember speaking to someone, who wasn’t a follower of Christ but very much into new age spiritism, about his encounters with familiar spirits. He told me how his friend had led him into consulting a medium who was able to accurately tell him about certain things about his past, including things about his father. Needless to say, he was drawn towards the medium who also predicted about his future. Hearing this, I frankly told him about familiar spirits from which the mediums draw their power and knowledge about him and his family. Familiar spirits could follow the same family through generations and therefore have knowledge about someone’s past as well as his ancestors who have past away. Sometimes these spirits disguise as someone coming back from the dead to deceive people who consult mediums and dead spirits. In reality, dead spirits cannot come back from the dead to speak to us. The mediums can, however, draw knowledge from familiar spirits to deceive his customers. They may have certain knowledge about someone’s past, but they do not have knowledge about his future. Familiar spirit uses knowledge about a person’s past to entice him into believing in the things the evil spirit predicts about his future. That’s why familiar spirits are very dangerous , not only communicating with evil spirits is strictly forbidden by God, engaging these spirits will mess up a person’s entire future. They deceive not only people in the world but also some believers due to their ignorance.
