The indestructible life

By Ivan Ho   1 Jan 2017

2017 started with a bang with fireworks going off around the world to celebrate the new year! Happy new year everyone!

After seeing the fireworks I got back and soon after I fell into a deep sleep. I couldn’t remember much after that as I was so tired. But what I could remember was this: I was driving my new car and as I made a swift turn around the bend, the car caught some object on the road on the passenger side. My initial reaction was “oh no, I just damaged my new car!” even though I could not see how bad the damage on the car body was. I was worried but decided to get the dent on my car off my mind and focus on driving to my destination. As I reached my destination, I began to check the car damage. To my present surprise, I could see no damage on my car at all, not even a scratch! I banged my new car in the new year but there was no trace of any bruises! Hallelujah! I was thinking the car must have a new design to make it totally indestructible!

As I woke up from the dream this morning on new year day, I began to wonder if there was any prophetic message in it. Here are some of my thoughts:

1. The new car represents our new life in Christ. When we accept Jesus into our heart, we become born again in the spirit, and from then on everything becomes new!  All our sins of the past and their curses have been wiped away by the blood of Jesus. We are now a new creation in Christ. God no longer sees us in our sins but sees Christ in us being the new creation!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

No matter what had happened to us in the past, good or bad, we can have a brand new start in Christ Jesus!

Not only that, we enter into a new indestructible life in Christ!

After we become born again in Christ, we will still be facing a lot of real challenges in this world.  Sometimes, due to our own carelessness, or mistakes of others, we can run into set backs, difficulties and all kinds of frustrations and hurts. Some of these things can really hurt a person and leave a permanent scar in his or her life.

Thanks be to God, those of us who are born again receive a new heart and new spirit, as the Spirit of Christ begins to dwell in our physical body. Jesus Christ, who had overcome all sins, temptations, sicknesses and ultimately death, now dwells in the body of the born again believer through the Holy Spirit!

In this life, we will face all kinds of challenges and troubles but we don’t have to be dictated and ruined by these destructive forces in life. The same Spirit who raised Christ from His death now also dwells in the mortal physical body of the sons of God, and gives us power to overcome anything that happens to us.

When we die after we reach the end of our journey in this life, we will be resurrected and given a new body in heaven, a body that is totally without defects. This is the new creation reality for those who are born again in Christ!

2. Some people, when bad things happen to them, become overwhelmed by the troubles that they run into! When faced with mishaps and oppositions, they become preoccupied by the troubles and stop going forward. The real tragedy is not the tragic events that happened to them, but when they become derailed by their problems and stop pursuing their purpose in Christ.

So many people are so easily distracted: a random thought, a word of suggestion, a smile even, or some freak accident is enough to derail a person’s life journey in God.

The enemy is a master of seduction and distraction, and his mission is to get us focus on the things he puts in our pathway instead of on Christ.

No matter what happens along the way, successes or failures we experience are only temporal. We must not become distracted by the things that suddenly hit us in life, and need to stay on course until we reach the destination.

Let us begin the new year in Christ and continue our journey with Him until we reach our destiny!

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 NKJV
