Align every thought

Wrong thoughts lead to all kinds of confusions and bad decisions in a person’s life. A lot of times wrong thoughts give us good feelings and good projections about what could happen in the future. Such thought is called imagination, a seed thought that the enemy plants in our minds that exalts itself above the knowledge of God. In the garden of Eden, the devil was speaking to Eve to try to influence her thinking. After listening to the devil’s suggestion, her soul began to imagine how good the forbidden fruit looked and how desirable it would be to gain wisdom. The thought on her mind contested the word of God but it gave her good feeling.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 3:6 KJV
The forbidden tree today could be a book we read, a false religion, a bad investment, an ungodly relationship that would take us away from God and lead us to break His commands. Sadly, instead of rejecting these thoughts that come from demonic sources, we entertain them because they give us good vibes. We look at some thing or someone and we begin to imagine how good it is even though God says otherwise.
Imaginations that oppose the knowledge of God must be cast down immediately before they become strongholds in our minds. When strongholds are developed in our minds, they need to be pulled down and demolished by the power of God. Our mind is a spiritual battlefield. To win the battle is often times not achieved by switching from one mindset to another, from one imagination to another, but simply by obeying what Christ says. The original word of God are given for us to follow and obey, rather than an optional opinion. We need to take into captivity every thought unto the obedience of Christ.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV
Thoughts, if they are not aligned with the Word and the Will of God, are dangerous. Thoughts that move outside of the word of God become imaginations. More often than not, we tend to over think an issue, trying to analyze the pros and cons, trying to work out how God’s words will come to past and so forth. Sometimes, we just have to shut down our mind and begin to walk in obedience.
When God first spoke to Abraham and told him to get out of his country, leave his friends and family and go to the place where God would lead him, he didn’t spend a long time to analyze the situation. He just obeyed what God said and went, and the rest was history.
When Jesus asked the woman at the well to fetch him a drink, she didn’t hesitate and think: “But I’m a woman, he’s a man, I’m a Samaritan, he’s a Jew…”. She simply obeyed and went to get Jesus a drink, even though she didn’t know who Jesus was.
If we are to think after we hear God speaks, either through the written word or the spoken word, we need to make sure that our thoughts align with what God says. Thoughts lead to actions. If any thought doesn’t agree with the word of God, it will inevitably lead us to wrong actions, and wrong actions will take us to the wrong destination outside of the will of God.
The bible doesn’t say “take some thoughts captive” but rather, every thought must align with God’s word. Shut down all imaginations and take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ!
