Dream of ministry boundaries
18 June 2025, HK
In the dream, I am sitting on the floor on one side with a pastor who I know but haven’t seen in recent years and couple of other people with him sitting opposite me. I try to illustrate to the pastor what I learnt from our spiritual father using some props in my hand.
I have a bronze rectangular plate which represents the spiritual father’s area of influence and works, and a larger white rectangular plate with some patches of coloured paint on it which represents what the pastor is doing. I try to align both plates together but due to the fact that the white plate is larger than the bronze plate, I can’t get them to align. I try to tell the pastor that he needs to stay within the boundaries of the bronze plate in what he does. However, A doesn’t seem to be interested in listening to what I have to say.
I woke up from the dream at that point.
My thoughts about the dream
The bronze plate represents precious metal that the spiritual father has been building. It is of a certain size and within set boundaries.
The works that the pastor has been building, on the other hand, extends beyond the boundaries set by the spiritual father. It is also a white plate with coloured paint on it.
The dream speaks of works that people do that are subject to their own initiative and ambitions that don’t necessarily align with the boundaries and pattern set by our forefathers which were built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20). When pastors and leaders go beyond set boundaries outside of the will of God, they put themselves in positions of vulnerability.
